Hillary Clinton sent an inspiring letter to this 8-year-old girl who lost her school election by just one vote.

Morales family photo. Eight-year-old Martha Kennedy Morales ran a competitive campaign for class president at Friend Community School College Park in Maryland. The third grader, who is in a combined third and fourth grade class, lost by just one vote to a male classmate, a popular fourth-grader. Defeat can be disappointing on any level – from national to regional to scholastic – and words of wisdom can offer encouragement when one would otherwise give up. And that’s exactly what Martha got. When Hillary Clinton heard the election results (which Martha’s father posted on Facebook), she sent a letter of encouragement. “My mom was just picking me up from school, and she pulled the letter out of her purse,” Martha told …

Justin Trudeau Passionately Defends Refugees After Islamophobic Town Hall Question

In response, Trudeau launched into a passionate defense of Canada’s “extraordinary diversity,” saying that its welcoming stance towards refugees is “one of the things that has made Canada great.” The question about immigration came from an audience member who said his family had been living in the Regina area for generations. The man asked Trudeau what he was doing about Canada’s “open border.”  “The people are saying no, because these two cultures will not mix,” the attendee added. “They’ve openly stated they want to kill us, and you’re letting them in,” the man told Trudeau. “These people always want the same thing: To be able to live in peace and raise their families, to create a better future for themselves …

Airports around the country feel the shutdown pinch as TSA callouts cause growing lines

Washington (CNN)Long lines and staffing issues have hit airports around the country as the partial government shutdown is in its fourth week. While other airports have so far been able to weather the shutdown, there are serious questions about how long the system can withstand callouts from TSA officers struggling to make ends meet without paychecks. TSA spokesman Michael Bilello said in a tweet Monday afternoon that Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson, Miami International Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Washington Dulles International Airport in the DC area were all “exercising their contingency plans.” He tweeted later Monday afternoon that Miami had “normalized operations.” While Bilello attributed the issue at Dulles in another tweet to snowfall in the Washington area, he …

A Bro’s Breakdown Of Colton’s ‘Bachelor’ Contestants Betches

I’m Jared Freid. I’m a 33 year old comedian who loves The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I love it so much, I live tweet every episode @jtrain56. As you can imagine, my father is v proud. V. For years, I’ve broken down the contestants before the new season. When I first started doing these, Snapchat was just an app to see boobs, and Instagram wasn’t a career. Also, ABC would only give me a picture, a name, an age, where they were from, and a profession. I’d make massive assumptions based on that small amount of information and that was my preview. Then ABC was like, “Let’s interview these monsters,” and suddenly my job got easier. Maybe too easy. The contestants …

People Who Use Someone Else’s Netflix Password, We’ve Got Bad News

Netflix freeloaders and Amazon Prime parasites, the jig is up. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 this week, a UK startup flaunted an AI-driven tool that allows streaming platforms to get finer insights into their users’ account behavior. Its chief aim is to allow media-service providers – such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc – to detect whether their users are sharing passwords with more people than they should. Synamedia have developed “Credentials Sharing Insight” to pick up on unusual or extreme patterns on streaming service accounts, hoping to sniff out people sharing their passwords. Using machine learning, it will be able to decipher whether certain patterns of logging in are legitimate or the result of sneaky behavior. For example, …

(AP Photo/Daniel Ochoa de Olza) On Thursday, Trump plans a personal visit to the Mexican border, where his administration said an illegal immigration “crisis” has been worsening by the day. 3 Signs That Weight Loss Isn’t The Answer To Your Problems Betches

You Constantly Compare Yourself To Others Comparing yourself to others is a sure way to “fail” any diet plan. As countless trainers have told me when I whip out an inspo picture of Kendall Jenner, no amount of food restriction or exercise can make your body look like someone else’s. You can look like a version of yourself with more muscles, or less fat, or with more or less of a noticeable stomach (I’m told—I’ve never experienced this myself). And that’s it! Those are all your options. So if your desire for weight loss is specifically sparked by seeing a certain body type, I’m afraid to say that dieting will not get you where you want to go. It’s a …
